Programs Intern
We are looking for an intern interested in nonprofit and/or social services work to join our Programs Team to support participants as well as staff who manage and administer programs overall.
Direct Service to Participants
Community Outreach
Qualifications: Major in counseling, social work or related field. Personable and approachable; comfortable interacting with diverse audiences. Organized, and able to multi-task.

Pennsylvania Women Work seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who wants to gain more knowledge about nonprofit fundraising and events through job-shadowing, learning experiences, and hands-on projects. The qualified candidate will serve as a member of the PA Women Work Development Team and contribute to the organization’s fundraising and event planning efforts.
The position is hybrid (split between the PA Women Work offices in East Liberty and a remote location) for a total of 15 hours a week and includes a small monthly stipend. The Events & Development Intern will report to the Events & Development Specialist.
Primary Projects
- Support the Development Department’s fundraising efforts through activities and projects related to event planning, campaigns, and volunteer management including administrative tasks, strategy, evaluation, and constituent outreach.
- Assist with planning and executing the annual Circle of Hope Awards Dinner (Oct. 17, 2024). Primary responsibilities will include soliciting and tracking items for the event’s silent auction, helping to lead the silent auction committee, and setting up and running the silent auction on event night.
- Help to conceptualize, plan and gather resources for future PA Women Work events.
- Aid in outreach to sponsors, volunteers and supporters, including processing thank you letters, coordinating event logistics and facilitating volunteer meetings.
Qualifications and Skills
- Senior-level college student majoring in fundraising/development, communications, nonprofit management, or a similar program
- Ability to manage and track multiple ongoing projects and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Must be well-organized and detail-oriented
- Possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for communicating with both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, and PowerPoint are also required
