  • Data Support Intern
  • RISE Program Manager South

Data Support Intern
We are looking for an intern to support staff in our programs departments with data management and tracking tools, as well as evaluation data, data visualization, and reporting. The person in this internship will participate in the process of an organizational technology review and upgrade, and be on the ground level of developing a results-based and data-informed organization while maintaining program databases.

Sample tasks
● Support program staff with day-to-day database maintenance and entry
● Provide reports to Development and Programs teams
● Creates data visualizations to inform about the status of programs
● Participate in the process of technology review and developing new technology systems to support participant management and program performance management
● Collaborate with the evaluation of programs

Qualifications
● Interest in data analysis, nonprofit evaluation, and how technology can support the mission of PA Women Work
● Adept or quick learner with online platforms and databases
● Flexible and adaptable
● Coursework/Major in public administration, information systems, nonprofit management, or related field

Program Manager, Refugee and Immigrant Services for Employment (Part-Time) 
Many foreign-born individuals come to the U.S. bringing unique skills, talents and backgrounds, but it can be difficult navigating the workplace in a new country. RISE is a career development program for immigrants, refugees, and asylees that offers individualized career services, including assistance developing a professional resume, support in transferring professional skills and credentials, introductions to local and regional employers, and advice for adjusting to the American workplace. RISE is designed for individuals who are legally authorized to work in the U.S., able to speak and write English, and trained in a professional skill or hold a certification or degree.

We are seeking a compassionate multi-tasker to serve 50+ RISE participants each year with individual career counseling, assistance with wrap-around referrals and credentialling, and connecting to employers. The ideal candidate will have experience working with the myriad immigrant populations in the South Hills region of Allegheny County.


Responsibilities

Workforce Development Assistance
  • Employ a variety of methods of instruction, facilitation, counseling to potential and current RISE participants
  • Provide mentoring and support through individual intensive services
  • Assist with job applications, background documents and credentialing process

Outreach
  • Participate in the processes of participant recruitment, orientation, retention, completion, and placement
  • Engage with potential employers through ongoing partnerships, networking events, job fairs or informational events  

Administration
  • Collaborate, report, and consult with the Senior Director of Programs on client engagement, curriculum, instruction, and overall program development on a routine schedule
  • Identify tools, resources, and best practices to facilitate ongoing program improvement
  • Collect, maintain, and provide data, client notes, and other requested information to appropriate team members
  • Create a bi-weekly report for Director of Programs that includes employer/client interactions, services provided, and placement information

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in workforce development, career counseling, or related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with refugee and immigrant populations in the region
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate findings from data analyses and evaluations to non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to interface with various and diverse set of stakeholders, groups and individuals
  • Highly organized with excellent time management
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative and dynamic environment with a growing organization

This is a contracted part-time position for approximately 20 hours per week. Wage range between $21,000-26,000/year. Work is primarily within business hours, with occasional evening/weekend work. This position will require some regular in-person work in community, within a primarily work-from-home environment.

This job requires travel around the South Hills of Pittsburgh. It is strongly recommended that applicants own a vehicle or are comfortable paying for public transportation (such as Uber, etc.) to get to various work locations.

Workforce Development Facilitator (GROW with New Choices Program)
We seek a contracted facilitator to deliver career development and job training curricula to returning citizens and people in recovery from addiction. Facilitators will provide education and training at onsite locations within the service area of PA Women Work’s Pittsburgh headquarters. Most locations are within the city of Pittsburgh but travel around Allegheny County may be required.

General Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Director of Programs, facilitators play key roles in the development, delivery, and promotion of PA Women Work’s programs. This position is ideal for individuals with instructional, training, and counseling/coaching experience as well as excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills and the exercise of honesty, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, and cultural competence.

The GROW facilitator will regularly facilitate a weekly one-hour class at Passages to Recovery, and, throughout the year, intermittently facilitate a 15-20 hour class with other community partners.

Work duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Deliver the course curriculum, employing a variety of instruction methods, facilitation, and counseling to maximize client learning, engagement, and attainment of goals.
  • Provide 1-1 client coaching and support
  • Collaborate, report, and consult with staff, nonprofit partners and other contractors on curriculum, instruction, and overall program development
  • Identify tools, resources, and best practices to facilitate ongoing program improvement
  • Participate in the processes of client orientation, retention, and completion
  • Use technology to enhance the educational experience as appropriate
  • Collect, maintain, and provide data, notes, and other requested information to appropriate team members
 
We are looking for individuals who have a deep passion and drive to help diverse populations address barriers to employment!
 
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field, with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in adult education and training, adult counseling, and/or career coaching.  Additional experience and/or advanced education may be considered in lieu of these requirements.
Candidates should demonstrate:
  • A strong understanding of workforce development especially for groups with barriers to employment
  • Experience with effective instructional strategies and know how to align instruction with content
  • Experienced in trauma-informed approaches to training and coaching
  • Strong presentation, written, and non-verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with clients and co-workers with sensitivity and respect for confidential information
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and the online job application process
  • Commitment to provide services in accordance with the mission, goals, and objectives of PA Women Work
  • Certifications such as Career Development Professional, DDI, MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, Trauma-Informed Care, etc. are highly desirable

​This is a contracted position and will be paid $175-200 per weekly class delivery at Passages to Recovery, and up to $1750 per completion of classes at other partners.
