We’re hiring: Part-Time Career Coach 

Pennsylvania Women Work (PA Women Work) is a statewide 501(c)3 nonprofit workforce development organization headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. Pennsylvania Women Work is dedicated to transforming the lives of Pennsylvanians through empowerment, employment and economic independence. Whether it’s a single mom struggling to provide for her family; a woman re-entering the workforce after 20 years; an immigrant adjusting to a new life; or someone faced with a challenging career transition, PA Women Work empowers job seekers with job search and interview skills, opportunities to build their confidence, and help setting and achieving both professional and personal goals. PA Women Work helps individuals find lasting employment that pays a family-sustaining wage through unique and life-changing programs. 

We are seeking a Part-Time Career Coach to provide coaching and career support to approximately 15 job seekers per week in a hybrid environment. This role collaborates closely with other staff to provide career coaching, connect participants with meaningful programs and resources, and help participants achieve successful outcomes. 

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and has experience in career coaching, workforce development, recruitment, talent acquisition, or a related field. They possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of service and accurate case documentation. 

This individual is a creative, self-motivated professional who fosters a welcoming and supportive environment while encouraging participants to remain accountable to their personal and professional goals. They are comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives and are skilled at managing a high-volume caseload while providing personalized support to each participant.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Career Coaching (80-90% of hours, combination virtual/in-person) 

  • Meet with clients to understand their experience, skills, interests, and career goals, provide coaching and connect them with appropriate PA Women Work programs, services, and resources. 
  • Conduct career assessments to identify client strengths, interests, and opportunities while exploring career and educational pathways. 
  • Develop individualized career action plans that incorporate career coaching, program participation, training, and other supportive services as needed.
  • Assist clients with developing professional materials and connect them with PA Women Work tools for ongoing document management. 
  • Plan and facilitate workshops and group coaching sessions on career development topics such as job search strategies, interviewing, networking, and workplace success. 
  • Support the development and enhancement of career readiness and leadership development programs. 
  • Maintain knowledge of employer and community service providers, making referrals as appropriate to address participants’ barriers to employment. 
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records, case notes, and program documentation in accordance with organizational policies and funding requirements. 
  • Stay current on labor market trends, career development best practices, and workforce resources to provide informed guidance to participants. 
  • Maintain client confidentiality and manage participant information in compliance with organizational policies and privacy standards.

Administration (10-20% of hours, combination virtual/in-person) 

  • Attend team meetings to stay informed of organizational initiatives, share updates, and collaborate with the coaching and programs team to support participant success. 
  • Accurately document client interactions and engagement activities in Sumac, maintain up-to-date participant records, and complete routine file reconciliation and case documentation in accordance with organizational policies and reporting requirements. 

Other duties, responsibilities, and special projects may be assigned as needed to support organizational and program objectives.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, career development, human resources, or a related field preferred 
  • Prior experience in recruitment, workforce development, career development or a related field.
  • Familiarity with career readiness concepts and service delivery. 
  • Ability to assess client needs and develop individualized career action plans
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite 
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative and dynamic environment with a growing organization

Pay: $25/hour, approximately 20 hours/week.
