After a difficult chapter in her life, Monica Blackwell was ready for a fresh start, but the job search wore her down.
“Before I met PA Women Work, I had been on 98 interviews and I was out of employment for two years,” she said.
After each interview that didn’t work out, she felt more and more defeated. Then Monica found PA Women Work’s ReWork program.
“When I met these women, I was devastated,” Monica said. “They helped me build my confidence back. They helped me stay motivated. And they were there for me through the entire job search.”
Monica put in the work and never gave up, and it resulted in a new job that she loves.
Today, Monica is a hotline specialist at Crisis Center North, where she connects callers with legal, economic, and mental health support. After two years of searching, she has a job she is proud of, and now she’s the one helping people through their own hard moments.
